ZEC just made history—America’s first privacy coin ETF is officially live🔒
Grayscale has converted its Zcash trust directly into an ETF (ticker ZCSH). It began trading on NYSE Arca today with $313 million in assets under management. This is the first time a privacy-class crypto asset has entered the U.S. mainstream capital markets in ETF form.
Everyone knows about BTC ETFs and ETH ETFs, but privacy-coin ETFs have long been a regulatory-sensitive area. Now that Grayscale has pushed ZEC through, the price surged and hit nearly 75% at one point, topping out around $871—its highest level in 8 years.
As of now, ZEC is around $818. There has been some pullback from the highs (-2.8%). Funding rates for the contracts are only 0.01%, which indicates very low “health” risk. The OI hasn’t shrunk, suggesting the market hasn’t shown any clear signal of a major long exit.
Of course, the ETF launch is a major catalyst, but after good news is priced in, there’s usually short-term volatility. If you’re buying at elevated levels, you need to be careful. It’s not that you can’t participate—but you should clearly understand your position size and where your stop-loss is.
The privacy narrative has been getting hotter this year. Whether it will trigger a chain reaction for names like MINA and ZAMA is also worth watching.
