Bugatti CEO Mate Rimac said the supercar market is entering a "Swiss watch era," with wealthy buyers favoring precision mechanics and hand-built details over high-tech electronics and electric vehicles. According to Sina Finance, he said mainstream cars will become mostly electric, while the high end of the market will remain driven by buyers who prefer traditional models, the sound of internal combustion engines, and emotional value.

Rimac compared the auto industry with the watch industry, saying digital and smart watches dominate most of the market, while expensive Swiss mechanical watches remain popular with wealthy buyers. He said internal combustion engines will stay in the supercar segment for a long time.

He said Bugatti's Tourbillon hybrid supercar uses one of the largest naturally aspirated engines ever fitted to a production car. The model has an 8.3-liter V16 engine producing 1,000 horsepower, with total output reaching 1,800 horsepower when combined with an electric motor.

Bugatti will build only 250 Tourbillons, with a starting price of about $4.5 million, and Rimac said they are already sold out. He said buyers often spend an additional $600,000 to $700,000 on personalized options such as special paint, leather, stitching, and other custom details.

Rimac said customization and one-off models have become one of the most important profit sources for Bugatti, Ferrari, and Lamborghini. He also said Bugatti aims to raise output, product quality, and profit while keeping the brand scarce, and that annual production will not exceed 300 cars.

He said the company posted EBITDA of 200 million euros last year and that profit will continue to grow. Rimac also said Bugatti's actual valuation is "far above $2 billion."
