Compliance funds can finally buy ZEC just like stocks—Grayscale’s Zcash ETF has begun trading on the NYSE, which could be an important turning-point signal for the privacy-coin sector. ZCSH started trading on NYSE Arca on Tuesday. It is the world’s first Zcash spot ETF, formerly the Grayscale Zcash Trust from 2017. Previously, Zcash was found to have a four-year Orchard shielded-pool vulnerability; it was patched in June, and the July Ironwood upgrade replaced the shielded pool. At a time when regulators are broadly wary of privacy coins, the ETF has nonetheless launched—suggesting that institutions are willing to give Zcash a compliant identity after security fixes. But note: whether the vulnerability was exploited cannot be confirmed cryptographically, and the decommissioning of the old shielded pool is also limited—so short-term price action doesn’t equal guaranteed safety. Next, the focus is on monitoring the adoption rate of the Ironwood upgrade, exchange support, and regulators’ stance toward privacy assets. Will you configure $ZEC via a securities account, or keep your own private keys?
