According to the Korea Herald, HKET and Yicai, Asian equities mostly recovered on Tuesday as chip and tech names steadied a day after a sharp AI-driven selloff, with Seoul and Taipei staging late rebounds while Hong Kong ended little changed.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 closed up 328.34 points, or 0.50%, at 65,856.43, recovering after slipping below 65,000 early in the session. Chip-equipment maker Tokyo Electron rose 0.47%, while Sony eased 0.47% and Advantest slipped 0.14%. SoftBank is planning a ¥1 trillion retail bond issue to help fund its OpenAI investment.

Seoul's KOSPI reversed a weak start to close 45.78 points, or 0.68%, higher at 6,742.74, after opening 2.4% lower and shedding more than 3% in the prior session on AI-profitability concerns. Samsung Electronics finished flat at 257,000 won and SK hynix added 0.42% to 1.68 million won, while Hyundai Motor gained 1.69%. LG Energy Solution fell 3.45% and SK Innovation lost 3.92%. Foreign investors sold a net 3.82 trillion won.

Hong Kong stocks were little changed, with the Hang Seng Index down 6.23 points, or 0.02%, at 25,511.10; the Hang Seng TECH Index eased 0.12% and the state-owned enterprises gauge fell 0.31%. Meituan dropped 6.65% and XPeng slid about 9% after reporting a wider second-quarter net loss of 1.34 billion yuan and soft third-quarter guidance. Lenovo rose more than 3% and NetEase gained over 2%, while chip name GigaDevice added more than 4% in an afternoon bounce; gold miner Lingbao Gold fell more than 6%. Xtep climbed about 5% after interim results despite an 11% profit decline.

Taiwan's TAIEX rebounded 407.14 points, or 0.91%, to close at 45,169.46, swinging through a near-1,000-point intraday range after falling more than 500 points at one point. TSMC rose 1.05% to NT$2,400, boosted by heavy late-session buying that added about 200 index points; foreign investors were net sellers of NT$5.3 billion.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite added 0.19% to close at 3,889.44, while the Shenzhen Component fell 0.35% to 13,745.87 and the ChiNext Index dropped 1.00% to 3,397.52. More than 4,200 stocks advanced as farming and pharmaceutical shares led gains; combined turnover eased to 1.83 trillion yuan.
