I see the collaboration between Dusk and NPEX as a major industry headline this year. Europe’s first blockchain-driven securities trading platform, with a pending tokenized securities volume of over €300 million. The MTF-licensed broker authorization, and the ECSP license—plus a fully built, very complete compliance framework.
But there’s one detail that can’t be ignored. After reviewing on-chain data, one analyst stated a very real situation, and I’ve been thinking about it for a long time. In the past, people tended to equate the scale announced by a project with the value locked up—bigger numbers generally meant stronger fundamentals. When Dusk announced an NPEX partnership at the hundreds of millions of euros level, the market was optimistic as well.
However, the actual on-chain data doesn’t match at all. DeFiLlama’s locked-up data is almost blank, and the daily trading volume is only sustained at the six-figure range. The gap between the official communicated scale and the data from real-world execution is enormous. The expected scale of €300 million compared with the real daily trading volume of only six figures. Such a discrepancy can’t be explained by “the ecosystem is still ramping up.”
Dusk’s positioning is an institutional-grade RWA privacy blockchain. But since its own mainnet went live, the chain’s overall performance has remained rather flat. The locked-up value is low, and market liquidity is thin. More awkwardly, after the mainnet has been running stably for more than half a year, the network’s active addresses are still only in the tens of thousands. The market’s earlier expectation that assets in the hundreds of millions of euros would be tokenized and moved on-chain has not, to date, translated into effective trading volume or data accumulation on-chain. The current blank state of DeFiLlama data at least indicates two core problems. First, there are currently no scalable DeFi protocols that have completed capital lock-up and ecosystem deployment on Dusk. Second, NPEX’s €300 million in assets are still in the planning stage; they are still far from real on-chain tokenization and ongoing trading.
Some may argue that the institutional RWA track doesn’t need high lock-up figures on a retail-focused public chain. But without liquidity support, institutional investors have no exit channels; they can’t price risk reasonably and it becomes hard to complete risk hedging. With missing secondary-market depth, the so-called tokenized securities have a massive gap between their actual value and their paper value. @Dusk

I’m not denying Dusk’s direction. In the field of compliant privacy financial infrastructure, the industry genuinely lacks truly high-quality players that have delivered. Having the right direction doesn’t mean the implementation is done properly. The blank data on DeFiLlama is, at the moment, the most real scoreboard of Dusk’s fundamentals.
