Nestlé Purina’s premium cat wet food brand Fancy Feast has launched two new main course can series—an Italian-style ragout flavor main-course can series, and two varieties: the tender-juice can and the thick-juice can. The new products made their debut recently at the 2026 Asia Pet Expo. The release of these two new series is not simply an expansion of flavors; rather, Fancy Feast’s move reflects its assessment of the Chinese market: China’s cat wet food market is currently in a phase of sustained growth, with consumers’ awareness and understanding continually deepening.
NielsenIQ data shows that as of June 2026, wet food sales account for 15% of online cat food total sales. Compared with the larger-dried-food market, cat wet food still has considerable room for penetration and growth.
As awareness of dry-and-wet pairings and complete wet-staple cans continues to grow, wet food is increasingly entering more everyday feeding scenarios, and pet owners’ expectations of wet food are changing too. Food must not only balance nutrition and help supplement water, but also make cats more willing to come close and continuously enjoy a sense of freshness. As a result, factors such as whether the ingredients are rich and whether the flavors vary increasingly influence pet owners’ choices.

“This new product combines comprehensive, balanced staple food nutrition with a wide variety of delicious flavors. It is tailored for picky cats with different preferences in flavor and mouthfeel, providing them with more choices for daily meals.” François Gergaud, Head of Nestlé Purina’s Greater China Pet Food Business, said: “China is the world’s second-largest pet market and also a strategically important one for Nestlé Purina. Purina will build on our two major brands, CANNAN and Fancy Feast, to become a brand with leadership and continue to focus efforts on the Chinese market. Among them, wet cat food is a very important business direction with significant potential. This is also the starting point for Purina to further invest in wet food and for Fancy Feast to launch two new product series.”
