Taking profit is ten times harder than entering. Entry relies on logic; taking profit relies on restraint. Most people lose money not because they’re wrong about the direction, but because once they reach the target, they don’t leave—they want to grab a little more greedily. That little bit often gives back all the profit. I set rules for myself: before entering each trade, I write down the target level clearly; when it’s reached, I exit and don’t look back. If it rises even more, it has nothing to do with me—I only take the portion that was within my plan. Exiting in batches is fine too—once you’ve exited, don’t turn back. After selling, if the price keeps flying, I don’t chase. If you chase, the rhythm gets thrown off. How much profit you can take matters far more than how many times you’re right about the direction.
