Recently I saw quite a few people praising @Dusk ’s "auditable privacy" on Binance. They say the Phoenix model can hide transactions and also let you prove your innocence to regulators. Sounds sexy, but after I actually tried it, I found the experience extremely user-unfriendly. I attempted to run a single RWA asset transfer on-chain. The transfer itself—$BTC —was confirmed within seconds, but when I wanted to send the legitimate credentials to my counterparty, I searched through the interface for ages and couldn’t find a "Generate Proof" button. I checked the documentation and was honestly devastated to find that if you want to obtain the cryptographic credentials, you have to manually type CLI commands yourself! It’s like using a ride-hailing app and wanting an invoice—you first have to learn how to write scripts. Can ordinary people produce credentials in one click? Sorry, it’s simply not possible on Dusk.
What’s even more fatal is that DUSK’s flagship is a grand narrative about integrating with regulated markets. In real scenarios, selective disclosure is an extremely high-frequency must-have. Large institutions can afford teams of engineers to run the terminals, but when a retail user is asked to provide $GOOGL.US proof of funds, are we going to force them to set up a development environment? Compared with traditional brokerages, their apps let you export a PDF statement with two taps. #dusk ’s ZK proofs may be mathematically flawless, but in terms of user experience, it feels like the clock has been turned back 10 years. The official campaign about plans involving hundreds of millions of euros in regulated assets is certainly grand—but if even basic compliance credential issuance requires engineers to step in, then the door for small and mid-sized institutions to enter is effectively blocked by this hurdle.
My current assessment is: the cryptographic architecture beneath Phoenix is very solid, but the "auditable" core selling point is just a hardcore technical demo—it’s not yet a mature product. If you’re thinking of investing $DUSK , don’t just stare at the formulas in the whitepaper; you’d better personally experience the credential issuance flow. After all, the ultimate essence of privacy infrastructure is to let participants "call it without feeling it," not to make someone bundle a single transaction with expert coaching.
