I used to think that taking RWA onto the blockchain is mainly about turning ownership rights into tokens. But the more closely I look, the more I see that this is only the starting point. The issue isn’t creating tokens—it’s how assets are issued, controlled, traded, and settled within a single, seamless process.

It seems that Dusk Network is approaching this problem in a different direction. Dusk Trade is built as an application layer for tokenized financial assets, connecting onboarding, investor eligibility checks, controlled transfer, payment coordination, and settlement.

It sounds convincing, but I still have doubts that an on-chain workflow won’t automatically create liquidity or ensure that investors change their behavior. What’s interesting, though, isn’t adding yet another token to the chain—it’s reducing the points of breakage between trading, compliance, and settlement.

That’s only true when these components actually operate in a truly integrated way. At least from my perspective, Dusk is trying to solve deeper friction issues beyond tokenization, but I’m still not sure how the market will respond. Perhaps the question worth tracking is whether RWA needs blockchain to be tokenized—or whether it’s blockchain that will cause the entire market to operate differently?
