Dusk everywhere repeats one slogan — deterministic calculation, with no rollbacks, as opposed to probabilistic PoW networks. I checked the full wording in the documentation, not just the marketing line — and it contains a caveat that doesn’t appear in shorter mentions.
Docs.dusk.network says it exactly: "Deterministic finality once a block is ratified - no user-facing reorgs in normal operation". The last two words don’t show up in any of the shorter marketing repetitions of the slogan.
This is not necessarily a weakness. Every BFT-style system with deterministic finality relies on an honest majority of validators — if a third colludes against the protocol, the guarantee is theoretically broken. Standard engineering honesty, not a unique flaw of Dusk.
But the term "normal operation" is nowhere explained in accessible language — the documentation refers to Section 3 of the whitepaper for the full consensus specification. I didn’t find an accessible explanation of the boundaries of what’s "normal."
