Regional stocks came under pressure at the start of the week as investors worried artificial intelligence-related shares could weaken ahead of Nvidia earnings later in the week, according to RTHK.

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index opened down 229 points, or 0.88 percent, at 25,780 before losses widened to 501 points, or 1.93 percent, lower at 25,508 in early trading. The China enterprises index opened 84 points, or 0.98 percent, lower at 8,549, while the tech index dipped 53 points, or 1.11 percent, to 4,713.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite Index opened down two points, or 0.06 percent, at 3,902 before edging lower in early trading. The Shenzhen Component Index opened up 23 points, or 0.17 percent, at 14,118 before falling 266 points, or 1.89 percent, to 13,827 in early trading. The ChiNext Index opened up four points, or 0.13 percent, at 3,550 before dropping 105 points, or 2.99 percent, to 3,439.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei opened down almost 39 points, or 0.06 percent, at 65,977 before slipping further to be 185 points, or 0.28 percent down at one stage before noon. In Seoul, the Kospi was 177 points, or 2.57 percent, lower at one stage before noon at 6,735 after opening down 31 points, or 0.46 percent, at 6,881.
