This BTC surge has definitely exceeded my expectations. The ETF inflows from Wall Street have been持续, several listed companies have been steadily adding positions, and with Washington’s regulatory stance clearly warming up, this set of coordinated moves directly ignited the market. The shorts have been pushed into a corner—massive positions were force-liquidated, and in turn that pushed the price higher. But in my view, this short-squeeze-driven rally is already a bit too hot in the near term. Right now, everywhere you look there are bullish voices; even people who were previously observing are rushing to get in. This kind of consensus sentiment often signals that a short-term top is not far off.
I’m not bearish on BTC’s mid- to long-term trend—its institutionalization and compliance are indeed tangible positives. However, once the price has risen to this level, many of the good news items have already been priced in. Next, if there isn’t even greater-than-expected capital inflow or a policy breakthrough, it will likely be hard to sustain this slope using just sentiment and short covering. I’m more inclined to wait for a decent pullback, allowing profit-taking to fully rotate the hands before making my move.
Also, I’ve noticed BTC’s volatility has clearly expanded, and the options market’s pricing for the near-term outlook is quite extreme. That usually means there are enormous disagreements. I’m not predicting a specific level, but the risk-reward ratio at the current position really isn’t great. Even if there is profit-taking later, it wouldn’t be surprising. I’d rather hold onto my ammunition and act once sentiment cools down. After all, truly big moves don’t just happen in a single day. This sharp rally looks great, but based on historical experience, people who chase in this kind of market usually end up not feeling so good.
