It can be said that on the Earth’s interconnected Internet, IPFS is an “optional option”; in an interstellar network, content addressing is almost a “must-have.” Of course, stay level-headed—what ultimately gets implemented may not be the IPFS protocol itself but some improved successor protocol; however, the paradigm of “content addressing + verifiable storage” will be even more rigid in a multi-planet civilization scenario than it is on Earth. My take is that IPFS/Filecoin is not far from going mainstream!
