Only when I truly calmed down and delved into its architecture did I realize I had almost missed a much bigger picture.
What kept me coming back was Dusk’s extreme focus on financial scenarios. Financial data is naturally impossible to fully make public, but at the same time, you can never build a serious financial system around a line like “just trust me.” Trust must be built on cryptography, not verbal promises. That’s exactly what makes Dusk feel interesting to me.
Lately, I’ve been chewing through its confidential smart contracts (XSC). To be honest, I’m still sorting out the details: without exposing underlying data, what logic can be verified? What states must remain private? And when regulatory compliance comes knocking, what data must be selectively disclosed?
I don’t have perfect answers yet, but honestly, it’s precisely this “unfinished” state that makes the research so fascinating.
I’ve also started to be wary of abusing the word “confidential.” Privacy doesn’t mean hiding everything in a black box. Maybe Dusk’s real value is that it redefines “disclosure”—not a matter of all or nothing, but a precise art of what to disclose and when to disclose.
