I used to see privacy blockchain mainly through the question of how well the data is protected. But the more I observe Dusk Network, the more I think that framing the problem that way might not be enough. The bigger challenge seems to be how a blockchain can support financial assets while still preserving privacy, access control, and compliance.
What’s interesting isn’t how many features Dusk has, but the mental model behind it. It’s not just about putting assets on-chain; it’s about trying to bring more parts of the asset’s lifecycle into the same infrastructure. From this perspective, privacy seems less like the sole goal and more like a primitive that serves financial infrastructure.
That sounds convincing, but I still doubt that privacy creates value only when it fits the real-world needs of the participating parties. However, if compliance and access control are designed to be overly complex, they can still introduce friction. That’s only true if the real-world experience is simple enough for users to accept.
At least from my viewpoint, Dusk seems to be positioned closer to financial infrastructure than a purely privacy-focused blockchain, but I’m still not sure whether adoption will validate this view.
