According to Bloomberg, Nvidia agreed to pay Poolside $6 billion for a license to AI models, offer jobs to more than 100 startup employees, and additionally invest $1 billion. At the same time, Poolside was valued at $12 billion in the deal excluding the new investment, and the company itself will remain independent (ForkLog).
Why it matters: it seems the AI market is shifting even more from simple investments to fighting for access to models, teams, and infrastructure. This could mean that the biggest players are willing to pay a premium not only for ownership of an asset, but also for control over key technologies without a full acquisition.
