$XAU US tariffs on Canada enter into force after trade talks collapse

New U.S. tariffs of 50% on nearly $20 billion worth of Canadian goods went into effect on Saturday after trade negotiations collapsed in the final moments, prompting Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to promise retaliatory measures, according to Bloomberg.

These tariffs cover hundreds of Canadian products, including plywood, alcoholic beverages, electrical equipment, and hockey gear. Carney said Canada would respond "dollar for dollar" to protect local workers and businesses
