USDC’s net increase over the past week: 800 million coins! Stablecoin reserves pool continues to expand, and market liquidity is starting to rebound
USDC has quietly “grown” again.
According to official data, within the seven days up to August 20, Circle issued approximately 7.5 billion new USDC, while redeeming about 6.7 billion, for a net increase in circulating supply of roughly 800 million.
Currently, USDC’s total circulating supply stands at about $72.7 billion, with underlying reserves of about $72.9 billion—coverage remains ample.
In terms of reserve composition, about $48.1 billion is allocated to overnight reverse repo instruments, about $12.7 billion is held in short-term Treasuries, about $11.4 billion is deposited with systemically important financial institutions, and an additional ~$0.7 billion is in bank deposits.
In short, for every additional USDC coin in the market, there is corresponding asset backing.
As a “cash-flow entry point” in the crypto market, changes in stablecoin supply often reflect shifts in funding sentiment. Continued USDC growth suggests that market liquidity is undergoing new changes. Whether additional capital will flow further into crypto assets is worth watching.
