After one of Bitcoin’s strongest weekly rallies in years, the market suddenly turned violent.
Bitcoin surged toward $80,000, gaining roughly 23% in one week, as massive ETF inflows and a wave of short liquidations pushed prices higher. But today, the market delivered a brutal reversal.
In just six minutes, around $108 billion in total crypto market value was wiped out, while approximately $1.7 billion in leveraged positions were liquidated within 24 hours.
Bitcoin dropped sharply from around $79,500 toward the $77,000 area, while Ethereum and XRP also faced aggressive selling pressure. XRP was hit particularly hard, suffering a flash crash of around 37% at one point as leveraged positions were liquidated.
Yet the bigger picture is still surprising: despite today's shock, Bitcoin remains roughly 23% higher for the week, while Ethereum has gained nearly 30% over seven days.
This is no longer just a normal market pullback. The crypto market is showing exactly how quickly leverage can turn a rally into a liquidation event.
🔥 The big question:
Was today’s crash the end of the rally — or simply the reset Bitcoin needed before the next move toward $80K+?
