In the past 24 hours, global liquidations totaled 1.821 billion, with 291,498 people wiped out. The largest single order was still on Hyperliquid, BTC-USD, worth 24.96 million—just evaporated.
The timeline gets even more exciting: in the last 1 hour alone, total liquidations hit 446 million, with longs accounting for 408 million and shorts only 38.54 million. Clearly, there was a fast pump followed by a sudden drop, slicing through the long positions that chased the price;
In the past 4 hours, cumulative liquidations reached 654 million—longs 500 million and shorts 154 million—longs kept getting hammered.
In 12 hours, it was 991 million: longs 561 million and shorts 430 million, pretty close on both sides. But when you extend it to 24 hours, shorts actually blew up more—1.033 billion—while longs were 788 million, which suggests that earlier rally already ran a round of liquidating the short side.
A classic long-and-short double liquidation: first force shorts out, then kill the longs. Rinse and repeat—nobody gets to escape. For those liquidated, I guess most had high leverage. If they couldn’t hold through one move, they got forcibly closed out, accounts went straight to zero, and they lost everything.
