One of my devoted fans got in touch with me at the beginning of this year and shared her story.

She said that as soon as she entered the market, she started losing money over and over. She had put in 4,000 and had 3,000 left. She couldn’t sleep at night and felt very anxious. (I asked her why she was anxious when she had so much money. She told me her family owned a company, and she just wanted to prove that she could do it. She buys in when the main uptrend begins, then sells immediately whenever there’s a pullback during the climb (even though the uptrend structure is still intact). Most of the time, it works. But sometimes it’s a false breakout: after buying in, the price starts drifting down, and then she just holds on, waiting to break even before getting out.

When there’s no market action, she can’t help going all in and then holding on through the losses. I told her to follow the trend, learn to wait, and, most importantly, learn to cut her losses. Missing an opportunity is no big deal, but a bad trade means a real, tangible loss.

We chatted online all afternoon. I told her that if there was anything she didn’t understand going forward, we could look into it together. But she felt she didn’t have the right mindset and wanted me to manage things for her. Since this involves risk, I said no. I still think it’s better for her to manage her own trades. After that, she kept asking me to reconsider, very humbly.

Then I told her that if I were to manage your trades, you shouldn’t ask me for a year whether you were up or down. If things reached my ideal target along the way, I’d let you know. Today, we finally hit the target, so I told her the news: I’d grown it from 3,000 to 5,000. She was incredibly excited. At first, she wanted to give me 2,000 as a reward, but I casually told her it was all thanks to my good luck. In the end, I accepted only 1,000 as a reward.
