$XAU Gold's share in central bank reserves reaches a historical peak
Gold's share of central bank reserve assets has reached a historic milestone. According to data from the World Gold Council, gold's share in global central bank reserve portfolios has risen to 26.3%, while the share of U.S. Treasury bonds has fallen to 20.2%. This means that, for the first time since 1996, gold has surpassed bonds to become the largest reserve asset. The shift has accelerated further as central banks around the world have been net buyers of gold for 14 consecutive years; meanwhile, market confidence in bonds has declined as the U.S. debt burden continues to grow.
Gold prices also support this outlook. In the previous trading session, XAUUSD traded at around $4,530, with an intraday high of $4,543. Since the beginning of August, gold prices have risen by about 10% and have remained above $4,500. From a technical perspective, the SRL(5,5) indicator points to the $6,124 level. In the short term, however, the market is focusing on the $4,599 resistance level, while $4,508 is a clear support level.
