BTC has hit 80,000—what I’m most afraid of now isn’t actually missing out
These past two days, $BTC has been rising a little too smoothly.
79,000, 79,500... Seeing these candlesticks, it’s hard not to feel tempted to chase. But after I just checked the liquidation data, I still pulled my hands back.
In the past two days, over **$4.3 billion** in shorts across the entire market were liquidated.
This means that in this rally, part of it wasn’t simply “people are bullish so they buy,” but rather that the shorts couldn’t take it anymore and **had to buy back.**
The problem is this: shorts always eventually get cleared.
So whether or not it breaks 80,000 isn’t what I care about as much right now. What I really want to know is—**after the shorts get nearly beaten down, will anyone still be willing to continue buying for real near $80,000 with genuine capital?**
Currently, the U.S. spot BTC ETFs have net inflows of about $1.61 billion for this week, which at least shows that there really is active buying demand.
But the ETF market is closed over the weekend.
If that money disappears and $BTC can still hold at high levels, then I’ll think this move is truly solid.
If it drops back immediately, I’d rather earn a bit less and not chase.
I’m not afraid of missing out right now. What I’m afraid of is being the last one in, only to end up taking over for someone else.
