Odaily Planet Daily, July 2024 — Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian wrote on social media that the sanctions and pressure policies adopted by successive U.S. administrations against Iran have all ended in failure, and that the latest U.S. announcement of economic pressure actions against Iran is also “doomed to fail.” In his post, Amir-Abdollahian reviewed a series of policies the U.S. has implemented against Iran in recent years. He said that 14 years ago the U.S. claimed to impose “the harshest sanctions in history” on Iran, 8 years ago it imposed “maximum pressure” on Iran, and 5 months ago it demanded Iran “unconditional surrender”—all of which ultimately failed.

In response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent announcement that the U.S. would take “the most devastating economic action ever against a nation” against Iran, Amir-Abdollahian said that this action is also “doomed to fail.” He also criticized that there has been no substantive change in U.S. policy toward Iran across successive administrations. Amir-Abdollahian said: “We’ve seen this play before—same lies, just with a new batch of bullies.” (CCTV News)
