Don’t just look at percentage gains on the leaderboard—bring open interest into the picture too. You can instantly tell which ones truly involve new money coming in, and which are just one exchange trading for its own amusement.

Top gainers today: CATE +137.7%, AIINU +134.1%, TOAD +62.8%, ONG +46.8%, ENA +38.7%, PEOPLE +38.2%.

First, let’s talk about ENA. Its current price is 0.13847. Over the past 24 hours, trading volume was $1.885 billion, with open positions of 354 million. It rose 62.55% in one day. It’s listed on 20 exchanges: Binance had 83.76 million (23.65%) up 54.73%, Bybit 74.25 million up 55.09%, and OKX rose by 132.12%. Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, $10.13 million was liquidated, with short liquidations of $7.41 million accounting for 73.1%. Since both open interest and price are rising together, this move wasn’t just passive buying from short liquidations—it indicates someone is opening new long positions to push the price up. This kind of structure usually has momentum as well.

PEOPLE rose 38.2%, with trading volume of 697 million, and open interest at 33.12 million, up 68.86%. In the past 24 hours, short liquidations totaled 1.216 million, accounting for 61.5%. The structure is like the same mold as ENA. But in the most recent hour, it’s reversed: longs liquidated 41.6k, while shorts liquidated only 12.6k. In other words, at the high end, it looks like someone is starting to catch the bids that can’t be sustained.

CATE is completely another story. It’s up 137.7%, topping the leaderboard. Trading volume is only 10.66 million, while open interest is 1.887 million, up 543%—it looks outrageous. But of those 1.887 million, 99.7% are on MEXC only; Binance, Bybit, and OKX have none. One exchange’s open interest has surged 5x, propping up the #1 spot. That’s not at the same scale as something like ENA, where 20 exchanges collectively add positions. If you want to enter at this position, first figure out where the counterparty is when you exit.

On the losers list, AVAAI is down 46.3%, with trading volume of 219 million. Its open interest is down to just $9.024 million—down 32.69% in one day; Binance’s portion is down 40.4%. In the past 24 hours, liquidations were 867k: longs 458k, shorts 409k—almost half and half. It fell by nearly half, but liquidations weren’t that large and open interest shrank. This isn’t a hole dug by short selling; it’s original holders closing their positions and leaving. Without a leverage squeeze, there’s no fuel for a squeeze-style rebound.

As for the broader market: BTC is up 7.65% to 77,293.7; XRP is up 15.73% to 1.3781; ZEC is up 14.35%. Across the whole network in the last 24 hours, total liquidations were $1.561 billion. Shorts are $1.251 billion, accounting for 80.2%. In the most recent hour, among 15.46 million, shorts were 11.03 million—still 71.4%. The entire market is squeezing shorts. On the gains leaderboard, those names that have position sizing aligned are eating the same wave.

Fear & Greed Index: 72—Greed zone. Altcoin Season Index: 56—Neutral.
