Body vs Shadow — How the market really decides
1️⃣ The common mistake
Most people mark support/resistance by counting touches.
This is superficial.
The market does not respect lines.
It reacts to acceptance or rejection of price — and this is within the candle.
2️⃣ Body of the candle: where the market accepted price
📌 Body = decision
– Where it opened and closed
– Where there was consensus
– Where the price was accepted
When a region has bodies closing repeatedly, it becomes: 👉 valid zone 👉 defended level 👉 structural base
🔎 Advanced rule
Strong support = closings, not wicks.
3️⃣ Shadow of the candle: where the market rejected price
📌 Shadow = failed attempt
– Price was tested
– There was no acceptance
– Market expelled
Long shadows indicate: – struggle
– indecision
– absorption
But not confirmation.
🔎 Advanced rule
A lot of shadow without body = weak level, even with several touches.
4️⃣ Strong candle vs weak candle (image)
🟢 Strong candle – Large body
– Little shadow
– Closing near the high or low
👉 Indicates clear control (buyer or seller)
🔴 Weak candle – Small body
– Long shadows
– Closing in the middle
👉 Indicates lack of dominance
5️⃣ Real support (where most go wrong)
❌ Wrong: – “Touched 3 times” – “Has line” – “Has wick”
✅ Correct: – Was there a closing above? – Did the body start reacting again? – Did the price move out afterwards?
📌 True support:
region where the market closes, defends, and moves away
6️⃣ Practical reading (advanced, simple)
When you see: – Many shadows at the same level
– But bodies closing above
👉 This is accumulation, not weakness.
When you see: – Body closing below a level
– Even with wick coming back
👉 This is loss, not rejection.
7️⃣ Golden rule (remember this)
🧠 The market respects the body.
The shadow only tells the story of the attempt.
Those who understand this: – stop hunting touches
– stop adjusting lines
– start reading intention
