Chery Auto said on August 20 that first-half revenue rose 1.2% year on year to 143.28 billion yuan, while gross profit increased 25.1% to 23.044 billion yuan and gross margin improved to 16.1% from 13.0% a year earlier, according to Jiemian News. The company also reported that its gross profit was lifted by higher margins in the period.

Jiemian News also reported that Hongmeng Zhixing said its cumulative deliveries had surpassed 1.5 million vehicles as of August 20, making it the fastest Chinese new-energy vehicle brand to reach that scale. On the same day, Hongmeng Zhixing launched the Shangjie G9 SUV, priced from 429,800 yuan, with both battery-electric and extended-range versions.

Separately, China National Machinery Industry Corp. said first-half net profit attributable to shareholders rose 21.08% year on year to 258 million yuan, while revenue fell 8.71% to 15.362 billion yuan. The company proposed a cash dividend of 0.42 yuan per 10 shares. Jiemian News also reported that Uber has begun offering Baidu Apollo Go autonomous vehicles on its platform in Dubai, with New Horizon Luxury Transport operating the fleet, while Honda said it will resume vehicle assembly at its Kumamoto plant next Monday after a quake-related shutdown. Waymo was also reported to have developed a custom ASIC chip for its robotaxis, with more than 1,000 TOPS of computing power and manufactured by TSMC using a 5-nanometer process.
