When we say DeFi lending, we usually think of variable interest rates. If market conditions change, both the borrowing cost and the lending yield can change.
@TermMax Here it took a slightly different approach.
Their fixed rate model allows them to determine the rate and maturity at the time the borrower makes a transaction. As a result, even if the market rate changes after taking the loan, the agreed rate of that specific loan does not change.
And the interesting part of TermMax’s architecture is FT, XT, and GT.
FT mainly represents a fixed debt value up to maturity. Together with XT, it forms the value structure of the underlying debt token. On the other hand, GT represents an individual borrowing position where collateral and debt information are stored.
Here, fixed rate isn’t only useful for borrowers. Lenders can also get a predictable return structure up to maturity.
But here comes an important question.
Does the system automatically become safer just because there is a fixed rate?
My answer is not going to be no.
If the collateral value falls, there may be liquidation risk. If market liquidity is low, managing positions can also become difficult. And like any DeFi protocol, smart contract and oracle-related risks are also part of the considerations. TermMax’s own market documentation separately defines the liquidation threshold and maximum LTV.
Another thing that’s quite interesting to me is RWA collateral.
TermMax is currently working on RWA-related markets and tokenized asset collateral. Through this, it seems possible to create a bridge between traditional assets and DeFi lending infrastructure.
But there’s no reason to be overly bullish just by seeing the word RWA.
In the case of tokenized assets, liquidity, valuation, legal ownership, and the recovery mechanism in case of default become very important.
So for me, TermMax’s real test isn’t just the $TMX launch or short-term attention.
I want to see:
How much real borrowing demand is created
How much sustainable liquidity exists
How efficiently do fixed rate markets operate
How practical do RWA markets become
And most importantly, how many actual users are there in the long term
Technology is interesting. The direction is interesting. But in the end, adoption is the real proof. 👀
