[ Today's Evening Report ]

1. Singapore and Taiwan's CDC issued a Level 2 travel advisory

Singapore: The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced this morning that, starting today, travelers who have visited West Bengal, India, and Bangladesh in the past 14 days will resume temperature checks and health declarations upon entry.

Taiwan: The CDC has raised the travel epidemic advisory level for India and Bangladesh to “Level 2: Alert,” urging citizens not to travel to epidemic areas unless necessary, and to strengthen quarantine measures at airports and ports.

2. The U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) initiates investigation into the EU's “Digital Services Tax”

As a countermeasure to the “India-EU Free Trade Agreement” (which the U.S. believes harms American interests), the White House has instructed the Trade Representative to restart the Section 301 investigation into the EU's imposition of a “Digital Services Tax (DST).”

3. Semiconductor materials in short supply: Reuters reports tight chip supply chain inventory

Reuters' tech section points out that, due to China's tightening of gallium and germanium export restrictions, along with logistics disruptions in South Asia, major global foundries are reassessing their capacity targets for Q1.

The report cites industry insiders saying that if logistics disruptions continue for more than 2 weeks, it will significantly affect the shipment of high-end chips (used in AI servers).
