When mapping out the roadmap, I noticed the product direction “Dusk Pay,” which hasn’t been officially launched yet. Seeing it alongside the EURQ stablecoin we discussed earlier made me feel that this line’s ambition is bigger than it appears at first glance.

Looking at EURQ alone, the core is that it’s a regulated euro-anchored asset issued by a licensed institution like Quantoz. Being able to transfer and settle it on Dusk already means traditional fiat rails have been brought into this chain. But a stablecoin is only an asset—whether ordinary people can truly use it as a payment tool requires one more layer: acquiring, merchant onboarding, and integrating with existing payment rails. That’s exactly the piece this direction, Dusk Pay, aims to add.

I think the logic chain here is: Zedger handles institutional-grade security settlement upfront; EURQ provides a compliant fiat-denominated vehicle; and if Dusk Pay succeeds, it completes the “last mile” of how regular users and merchants actually spend that money. With these three pieces put together, in theory they can support a full loop from institutional settlement to retail payments. The ambition is not small—because the payments track has historically been one of the hardest bones to crack. It’s not that the technology isn’t good enough; it’s that network effects are too strong. Whether merchants are willing to integrate and whether users are accustomed to using it can’t be opened with technical advantages alone.

After researching, my biggest doubt is that Dusk Pay is still at the roadmap stage—it doesn’t yet have a concrete launch timeline or real-world deployment cases. Between a pure technical concept and actually running through a merchant network, historically, too many projects have failed at this step. Stablecoins themselves are not scarce; what’s missing is merchant density willing to accept them. That’s not really a question of pure technical capability—it’s a hard commercial battle involving business development and cultivating user habits. As a relatively niche, institution-oriented public chain, does Dusk have the resources and channels to tackle this “bone”? I haven’t seen an answer that makes me feel comfortable.

As for the technical side, I think I’ve figured out the picture. For the pieces of the puzzle—securities settlement and compliant stablecoins—Dusk has already put them in place. The final piece of payments is, beyond the technical story, truly where commercial execution is tested. I plan to reevaluate once I see actual merchant integrations of the digital currency; for now, it can only be considered a vision.
