$BNB TermMax has a fixed interest rate that’s easy to lock in, but the liquidity depth issue hasn’t been fully overcome yet.

Using TermMax for USDC fixed-term borrowing and lending is more straightforward than Pendle’s splitting logic. You settle at the agreed interest rate at maturity, without having to watch PT and YT price changes. Exiting is a bit uncomfortable: when liquidity is shallow, as maturity nears, placing orders for your position can incur slippage that can eat up one or two percentage points.

The unlock speed of the TERM token looks fast, but in practice it’s tied to the protocol’s fee-sharing arrangement. To get the full incentives, you need to keep your position locked for longer.

Compared with Notional, TermMax’s advantage is more granular term coverage: pools exist for short terms like three weeks and six weeks, whereas Notional’s cycles tend to be longer. The drawbacks are also clear. The subsidy on the borrowing side is too weak. Most of the TERM incentives are concentrated on the deposit side, so capital supply runs faster than demand. That compresses spreads on the long end—long-term rates get pushed down with little room for a spread. Aave’s floating rates don’t have this problem, but with TermMax, if you choose the right maturity, fixed rates do allow you to lock in costs.

After using it, there are a few other awkward points. There’s no one-click roll/renewal: to extend your position at maturity, you must manually close first and then open again, paying an extra round of gas. The liquidation parameters update too slowly during periods of sharp volatility. The collateral ratio estimate uses an outdated price, which can be amplified in extreme market conditions. Overall, the TERM token currently functions more like a liquidity subsidy tool, and governance signals appear relatively weak.

In general, TermMax is best suited for users who complete a strategy and don’t frequently move their positions. If you want it to be your main term layer, it’s still worth observing further.@TermMax #termmax
