At first, I thought that to build a Layer 1 network specialized in finance, all you needed was good speed, reasonable costs, and support for Tokenized Assets… and that was it. As long as the settlement problem was solved, then all that remained was for people to build their applications.
But after I dug deeper into reading about Dusk, I realized that this view was oversimplified.
What really caught my attention is that Dusk isn’t just a project that “tokenizes” technologies or assets. It builds a complete lifecycle around them: starting from investor onboarding, wallet binding, controlling ownership-transfer operations, all the way to disclosure and coordination with payment networks.
This point completely changed my perspective on RWA (Real-World Assets). Simply turning a bond or an investment fund into a token on the blockchain doesn’t automatically mean it’s ready for real-world use. There are still fundamental questions that need answering:
Who is allowed to buy?
Who is entitled to hold the token?
What data must be made public, and what should remain protected by privacy?
And how will settlement between the funds and the asset itself take place?
Dusk goes one step further by separating execution from settlement:
There’s DuskEVM for writing Solidity, and DuskVM for applications that need to interact directly with the L1.
And at the same time, DuskDS handles the work of settlement (settlement) and data availability (data availability).
