Day 4: Last night BTC and ETH suddenly surged, and I actually started to understand “fixed interest rates” 🐶

When I opened up the trading screen last night, I was really shocked.

BTC kept pushing through 70K, and ETH was even more outrageous—jumping straight from over 1,900 to above 2,300.

At first, my reaction was just: “??What happened after I went to sleep🤣”

But when I looked back into @TermMax today, I suddenly thought of something.

In a market like last night’s, you can really tell whether those two words—“fixed”—are actually worth anything.

Because when the coin price suddenly spikes, market sentiment, borrowing demand, and leverage demand can all change along with it.

If today’s borrowing cost is floating, the APY I’m seeing now doesn’t mean it will be the same number a few days from now.

But @TermMax works a bit differently.

It locks in as much as possible right at the beginning: how much you borrow → what the interest rate is → how long you borrow → how much you owe at maturity.

When I studied @TermMax earlier, I kept focusing on “how high the fixed interest rate is.”

But after this last night’s market move, I feel like the real value might instead be: you need to know what your holding cost is.

The crazier the market gets, the more important that becomes. But fixed interest rates aren’t magic either.

BTC and ETH surging ≠ TermMax rates definitely rising too.

TermMax’s fixed interest rates are still determined by market factors like capital supply and demand, tenors, the underlying asset, and so on.

And locking in rates also creates another issue:

Suppose I lock in 8% today, but the market rate becomes 15% a few days later—then I can only watch other people earn that 15% 😂

On the other hand, if market rates suddenly drop to 3%, then locking in 8% back then feels great.

So after getting to Day 4, my biggest change in how I view @TermMax isn’t really “the APY is high.”

Instead, it’s this: fundamentally, fixed interest rates don’t help me predict the market correctly—they help me make one fewer thing to guess.

Coin prices are already hard enough to guess.

At least let the interest rate be fixed for me 🐶

Tomorrow is Day 5, the last day. I want to calculate the most realistic thing directly:

TMX—how much is it, and would I think it’s too expensive?

The creator task seems to have 500 spots, but it feels like it compiled a lot of official information. And after looking at the whitepaper and organizing it, it doesn’t seem like the key factor for scoring is official. Keep writing to see if I can still fight to get one of the 500.
