Billion-yuan shorts wiped out! What really happened behind this Bitcoin surge?

Brothers, last night’s rally was intense! After more than two months, Bitcoin broke above $69,000 again, briefly surging to the $70K mark. Ethereum also surged strongly, climbing back above $2,300. Even more extreme: in this rapid upswing, market shorts were liquidated in a concentrated cleanup—over $1 billion in positions was directly “washed out.”

But this rise isn’t just a simple technical rebound. On the news front, the market received two major positives at the same time.

First, the U.S. Treasury announced an expansion of its long-term Treasury buyback program. The single-buyback limits for 10-to-20-year and 20-to-30-year Treasuries were raised from $2 billion to $4 billion, effective starting September 9. The core purpose is to further increase liquidity in the long-term Treasury market.

Second, the U.S. SEC released a new regulatory framework for the issuance of crypto assets. For certain issuers that meet the criteria, they may be able to obtain more flexible financing channels, as long as disclosure requirements are met.
One improves expectations for liquidity, and the other releases a positive signal for the regulatory environment.

Once the news hit, market sentiment heated up quickly. BTC led the breakout, and major assets like SOL and XRP also strengthened in sync. Even crypto-related stocks saw clear gains.

But here’s the key point: a surge doesn’t automatically mean a bull market has been confirmed.

This kind of行情 (trading action) most easily creates a scenario where shorts are forced to stop-loss, funds chase the rally, and the price gets pushed even higher.

In the short term, it does look strong. But whether it can evolve into a true trend still depends on trading volume, money flow, and whether the breakout level can be held afterward.

So don’t blindly chase just because you see a huge bullish candle. What’s really worth watching is whether, after this upswing, $BTC can turn the breakout into support.

If it holds, market sentiment may further repair. If it spikes up and then quickly falls back below that key level, be careful—it could be nothing more than a squeeze-style rebound.

News provides the spark, and capital provides the lift. The trend ultimately still needs price confirmation.

For this rally, I’m not focused on how much has already risen. What matters more is where the money will go next.

The real opportunities often aren’t during the most frantic moments, but when the market starts to diverge and disagree.
