Brothers, not setting a stop loss on trades is simply not acceptable!!!
In just 24 hours, the total liquidation across the entire internet reached a staggering $2.975 billion, forcing over 170,000 people out of their positions. Among them, BTC accounted for $1.421 billion and ETH accounted for $1.115 billion—together they make up the vast majority. Even more ironic are the data details: while long liquidations reached as high as $240 million, short liquidations were an astonishing $2.735 billion. What does this mean? It means that in an extreme pump, those who try to “top-fish” with shorts end up dying the worst.
Many people see this kind of chart and their first reaction is panic or regret—hitting their thighs from regret. But as traders, you have to stay calm and see the ruthless logic behind it: the market is always right, and leverage is a magnifying glass that amplifies human weaknesses.
This nearly $3 billion tuition teaches us three lessons:
First, don’t try to guess tops and bottoms in this market. Just look at the massive liquidation volumes in ETH and BTC—you can see how terrifying the power of trend is. Going short against the trend, even if you’re right about the direction, if your timing is off by even a little, one needle-like spike can wipe you out.
Second, position management is the life-saving talisman. Why can some people survive the volatility while others become the denominator? Because the latter often go all-in with full margin. When your position is so heavy that you can’t withstand a 5% move, you’ve already lost.
Third, staying alive matters more than making money. Among these 170,000, there are definitely expert traders who were profitable before. But in extreme market conditions, one mistake can send you right back to square one.
Look at this sea of red liquidation chart. If you’re still in the market and holding chips, check whether your leverage is safe; if you’re already out of the market, don’t rush back in to “pick up corpses.” Wait until market sentiment stabilizes.
Remember: these liquidation numbers aren’t cold, lifeless data—they’re lessons paid for in hard cash. In this market, only those who live long enough can laugh last.
If you’re stuck in a trade, you can come to the chat room and exchange ideas together—helping you get unstuck.
