I drifted into looking at Dusk settlement speed and thinking the same thing shaving five seconds off finality sounds impressive but it barely matters if the legally required notarial step still takes hours.

That is the metric I would reject first.

For a Dutch BV share the slowest mandatory ownership step matters more than the fastest blockchain step. Dusk may finalize a token record quickly but if the notarial deed is not signed yet, what exactly has settled?

The more interesting behavior happens around that bottleneck. How much reconciliation disappears after the legal transfer? How many duplicated records manual confirmations, custody updates and post-trade checks can Dusk compress without pretending Dutch company law vanished?

Some legal friction is normal. Tokenization does not need to remove the notary to create value.

But the distinction matters. If €100M of tokenized SME shares carries only a 0.01% mismatch between blockchain state and legal state that is still €10K represented differently across two systems.

So I would track reconciliation friction versus legal friction.
Dusk succeeds if it makes everything around the unavoidable legal step cleaner.

My concern is whether markets will call that instant settlement when ownership itself still waits on someone off-chain.
