PANews, August 19—According to The Block, Patrick Witt, the White House senior crypto adviser, said at the SALT conference that he remains “optimistic and bullish” about the passage of the Clarity Act, despite ongoing controversies such as the handling of stablecoin rewards and Trump’s crypto-related conflicts of interest. The Senate majority leader has scheduled a vote to end debate for September 15. Witt said he will confer with Democrats to resolve differences and seek a reliable vote on the 15th.
Senate Banking Committee Chair Tim Scott said that the stablecoin rewards issue, which had previously reached a compromise, has resurfaced again: “We thought we had solved it, but now the problem has come back.” Regarding the moral provisions, Trump is weighing the latest proposal that would allow state attorneys general to enforce the provision. The Clarity Act is over 600 pages and aims to establish a comprehensive federal regulatory framework for the crypto industry, after repeatedly stalling previously.
