Just finished browsing the Dusk node browser on my screen. The native L1 really is running—consensus, settlement, Moonlight, and Phoenix are all live on-chain. Blocks are coming one after another. But after I closed the page, I felt even more clear-headed than before.

I realized there’s a gap between mainnet operation and commercial deployment that many people in a bull market tend to overlook. The hottest topic in the market right now—DuskEVM—is still on the testnet. Hedger is still under construction, and Dusk Trade isn’t even close to a state that can be accepted and signed off. Sure, the toolchain has moved forward by a big step. But no matter how beautifully the documentation is written, it can’t replace the depth of an order book. It’s like building a building: the main structure topped out—that’s definitely worth celebrating. But you wouldn’t calculate ROI by charging the rent for a finished, move-in ready apartment while the scaffolding hasn’t even been removed.

Honestly, I’m really afraid the market will directly equate “progress” with “maturity.” On-chain, there hasn’t been real trading volume yet. Stable fee rates are impossible to talk about. @dusk’s foundation is definitely more solid than most chains, and the direction of compliant privacy is also correct—but fixing the riverbed is one thing. When the water comes, how much comes, and how long it lasts—that’s a completely different set of questions.

Right now, I only track three hard metrics. Missing any one of them doesn’t work. First, EVM has to be switched to mainnet and truly deployed by external projects—not just internally running and then holding a launch event. Second, Hedger needs to produce a verifiable segment of real-world trading records for market-making, and data like slippage and liquidation lines must stand up to scrutiny. Third, Dusk Trade must complete at least one full loop covering asset issuance, settlement, and the exit flow.

The end value of modular design has never depended on how beautiful the architecture diagram looks. It depends on whether, from initiating a transaction to completing an exit, every step in between is smooth enough to make people forget that underneath it’s still a chain. Even the prettiest renderings can’t be used to collect rent. Until the house is delivered, scaffolding doesn’t count as building area.
