But the scenarios Dusk is trying to address are closer to regulated finance: transaction data cannot be fully exposed to everyone, while still preserving interfaces for identity verification, asset rules, and necessary scrutiny. This is not the same path as simply pursuing anonymity, and it also means Dusk must make more careful designs to balance privacy and compliance.
The problem with traditional public chains is that the ledger is too transparent. If institutions move securities, fund shares, or other real-world assets directly onto a public chain, their holdings structure, transaction sizes, and business relationships may be continuously tracked by competitors. But if all information cannot be verified, then issuers and regulators will find it difficult to confirm investors’ eligibility. That’s where the value of zero-knowledge proofs lies: users can prove they meet certain conditions without having to disclose full identity details and all transaction records.
However, being able to support selective disclosure technically doesn’t mean real-world businesses will automatically adopt it. Requirements differ across regions for securities registration, data retention, asset custody, and investor admission. Even if Dusk provides suitable underlying tools, it still needs the issuer, legal service providers, and compliance systems to integrate together. Otherwise, privacy will remain only at the protocol capability level and cannot be translated into real asset scale.$SPCXB
So my assessment of DUSK won’t be limited to whether the "privacy narrative" is trending. I’ll look to see whether issuers are continuously using these capabilities on-chain. Metrics worth tracking include the number of compliance accounts, the issuance scale of restricted assets, the actual usage of selective disclosure, and whether institutions are willing to keep settlement processes on Dusk long-term. If these figures grow, privacy won’t just be a selling point—it will become core infrastructure that helps financial participants reduce the cost of information exposure.#dusk @Dusk $SNDKB
