The best summer of a Korean girl has ended, but a Taiwanese girl hasn’t yet

Believe that around the time of the World Cup two months ago, everyone saw a post: “A Korean girl said this was the best summer of her adulthood.”

Later, this sentence was copied and moved to all kinds of places. Whenever a particular sector surged hard, out would grow a “best summer.”

The same sentence was then applied to Taiwan’s stock market.

In the first half of 2026, the Chinese Taiwan stock market saw the strongest half in history, with a half-year gain of nearly 60%. TSMC rose 55%, while MediaTek climbed nearly 200%. By the end of June, the total market value of Taiwan stocks surpassed $5.1 trillion. Measured by stock-market region, during the year it first overtook the market values of France, the UK, Canada, and India, and rose to become the world’s fifth.

So this is also “the best summer of a Taiwanese girl.”
