I’ve spent enough time in crypto to know that the hardest part is rarely the idea itself. A lot of projects sound convincing when everything is explained neatly. Privacy, compliance, smart contracts, financial use cases — none of that is difficult to sell in theory. The real test starts when people actually have to use it.
That’s why I keep coming back to Dusk with a bit of curiosity, but also some caution.
Financial privacy makes sense to me. In the real world, companies don’t publish every transaction, agreement, or balance for everyone to inspect. But bringing that kind of confidentiality on-chain creates another set of problems. Regulators still need visibility where it matters, institutions need certainty, and users won’t tolerate complicated systems just because the technology underneath is impressive.
I’ve seen this before. Crypto often builds something technically strong, then discovers that liquidity, integrations, regulation, or simple user friction are much harder to solve.
Dusk’s confidential smart contracts and XSC approach are interesting, but I don’t think good technology automatically turns into real demand.
Something about the direction feels more practical than the usual privacy narrative, though. I’m just more interested in seeing whether people actually rely on it than hearing what it could become.
