The U.S. Department of the Treasury has proposed new rules to implement the “GENIUS” law, which clarifies when stablecoin issuers need a U.S. license and when digital asset firms are allowed to offer or sell payment stablecoins to users in the United States.
The “GENIUS” framework is expected to take effect on January 18, 2027, with a 60-day public comment period from the date it is published in the Federal Register.
