Odaily Planet Daily News: According to Nikkei News, SoftBank Group plans to issue about 1 trillion yen (US$6.26 billion) in corporate bonds for retail investors in Japan, which is expected to set a record for the largest issuance size of Japanese corporate retail bonds. This will be the group’s third issuance of retail bonds this year; it previously carried out two issuances in April and June. The bond term will be 7 years, and the specific terms (including the interest rate) will be determined in early September. Analysts expect the coupon rate to be above 4%.

SoftBank Group expects to use the proceeds for bond redemptions and investments in embedded artificial intelligence in real-world businesses, including corporate acquisitions. The company has previously announced plans to spend US$5.4 billion to acquire the robotics division of Swiss engineering company ABB. (Jin10)
