According to Sina Finance, BASF CEO Markus Kamieth said on Monday that low water levels on the Rhine River, driven by prolonged drought, have caused some products to fall short of full supply. He said the company’s finances have not been materially affected so far, but the risk of production disruptions would increase week by week if the drought continues. Kamieth added that the situation remains manageable and that the challenge is far smaller than in 2018, thanks to improved preparations for extreme weather.
