Yesterday, spot BTC trading across various exchanges fell again to an all-time low. Whenever this kind of market shows up, social media is full of cries of doom. But my habit is the opposite: the colder the market, the more I should take a look at projects like Dusk. Only when the tide goes out can you tell who’s swimming naked and who’s genuinely laying the foundation.
First, let’s admit it: there’s really nothing to be excited about in this market. The price action is stagnant, and the narratives propped up by emotion and noise one by one fade away. But that’s exactly the window for testing what’s real. In a bull market, everyone is a star—everything you buy goes up—so you can’t tell genuine projects from fake ones. When the tide recedes, the stories told by storytellers become unsustainable. The people who just yell trading calls can’t get through to anyone anymore. Only what can still stand firm at that point is truly real.
In my view, Dusk is like that. It was never about pumping with hype from start to finish. The whole time it has been focused on doing the same thing: taking security-like assets from traditional finance and, in a compliant way, moving them on-chain. In a bull market, that kind of “infrastructure” doesn’t get much attention, because the market only rewards things that pump quickly. But it’s precisely this kind of unobtrusive foundation that can withstand the cycles of bull and bear.
Look at the cards it’s accumulated over the years: deep integration with the Dutch licensed exchange NPEX, digital euro EURQ getting onboarded, and institutional-grade custody going live. And the developer infrastructure has been rolled out piece by piece. None of it is aimed at catching a single wave of行情. Everything is built for decades of infrastructure. When the market is cold, it doesn’t draw crowds. But when the market returns, it’s the ones that have laid the foundation solidly in the harsh winter that can actually hold back the incoming flood.
So in the bear market, the kind of projects I like most are the ones like Dusk—where price up or down doesn’t rely on narratives, but on building real scenarios, brick by brick. What you’re testing isn’t who can shout the loudest, but who is truly standing on the ground.
Use some caution: even if it manages to line up license-and-cooperation partnerships, if the mainnet hasn’t launched, then all of this so far is just buildings drawn on paper—you only know it’s real once people move in.
Where did the liquidity go when the tide receded? You and I both can see it. So how many projects in the track you’re still watching are left now?
