According to Axios, the International Atomic Energy Agency will soon remove nuclear material from a clandestine site in Syria after the Trump administration reached understandings with Syria and Israel. The agreement, signed three weeks ago between the IAEA and the Syrian government, is meant to secure material stored at the site known as "Site 99," which Israeli and U.S. officials say includes yellowcake and other residue from Syria's former Al-Kibar nuclear reactor project. U.S. officials said the material cannot be used for a nuclear weapon but could be used in a dirty bomb. The material has not yet been removed, and U.S. officials said the operation is still ongoing. According to the report, Israel had monitored the site for more than a year and threatened to bomb it again if the material was not removed or if Syria tried to access it. The Trump administration asked Israel not to act and brought the IAEA into the process after Israeli officials suspected movement at the site several weeks ago.
