【Fear Index 31, but “Smart Money” is already moving】

Recently, there’s an interesting on-chain signal: the Fear & Greed Index is 31, and the market sentiment is gloomy—but AVAX has somehow held steady.

What does this mean?

I’ve been through several cycles. Each time the market becomes extremely panicked, it often turns out to be the true bottom zone. In late 2018 and March 2020—back then, it was even more hopeless than it is now. Looking back, those were the best times to enter.

This time, AVAX is down nearly 96% from its highs. Valuation-wise, it’s in an oversold range. The key question is: has there been a fundamental change in the fundamentals? I don’t think so. Avalanche’s on-chain activity, technical iteration, and ecosystem planning—everything that should be progressing is still moving forward. With the price falling this much, yes, it’s influenced by broader market sentiment and liquidity issues, but not because the project itself has suffered a fatal problem.

So who would be affected because of this?

Retail holders who are holding AVAX are the most uncomfortable right now. But if you flip the perspective: the truly capable players are actually collecting positions during this time. Institutions are waiting for ETF-related signals; large holders are waiting for improving liquidity; small investors are panic-selling. This kind of structural chess match happens every time, and it’s always pretty similar.

Does the business logic hold up? Over the medium to long term, as long as Avalanche can keep attracting developers and users, price recovery is highly likely. But “will recover” and “when it will recover” are two different things. That requires patience—and ammunition.

Next week, the focus is on whether trading volume can expand. Rebounds on shrinking volume usually don’t go far. A breakout with increased volume above 6.56 is what can confirm that the direction choice is valid. Until then, it’s better to watch more and act less.

Has your view changed this week? Mine hasn’t. When people are fearful, you should be clearer-headed. I’ve been saying that for over a decade—every time, there are people who don’t believe it.
