Is shorting Hynix $SKHYNIX really happier than shorting SanDisk $SNDK ? That spike just now blew me out of bed and made me research for a long time, but I couldn’t find the cause.
When I looked back at the group chat, I found out it was an eagle (after-hours) liquidation—positions held off-exchange were also closed. Combined with the stop-loss level of 1700, which is a common stop for many people, it directly squeezed upward to take the longs, and it surged 6%. It briefly topped at 1774 before quickly pulling back.
By contrast, for Hynix and Micron… short sellers are doing pretty well.
