Key summary

According to on-chain data, Changpeng Zhao (CZ) transferred 1,440 BNB (about $872,000) and 182,620 BNB Life tokens (about $93,000) to the Gnosis multisig wallet of Giggle Academy. The combined value of the two assets is approximately $965,000, tracked by on-chain analyst OnchainLens. Giggle Academy is a free blockchain education platform launched by CZ, aimed at low-income and marginalized groups. The transfer occurred about three hours before the on-chain scan cutoff. Since stepping down from the front lines of Binance management, CZ has continued to invest resources into Giggle Academy.

Global crypto exchange Binance (Binance) founder **Changpeng Zhao (CZ)** was found to have transferred approximately $965,000 worth of cryptocurrency—using on-chain data—to the Gnosis multisig wallet of **Giggle Academy**.

The recent trend of Binance’s former CEO reallocating assets to an education-centered philanthropic project has once again been confirmed to have moved on-chain.

On-chain analyst OnchainLens disclosed the transaction through a post. The deal included 1,440 BNB and 182,620 BNB Life (BNB Life) tokens. Based on the valuation at the time of transfer, the amounts were recorded as approximately $872,000 and $93,000, respectively.

What kind of project is Giggle Academy?

Giggle Academy is a free online education platform that CZ launched after stepping back from Binance’s day-to-day management. It focuses on so-called “basic education” capabilities such as literacy, basic arithmetic, and fundamental competencies, targeting learners in underdeveloped and marginalized regions where regular educational access is low.

A key feature of this platform is a blockchain-based performance certification system. When learners complete a course, it issues achievement badges that can be verified on-chain. It’s essentially a structure that adds an “on-chain certificate” layer to traditional online education services. The educational content itself follows relatively conventional e-learning models, but by recording completion records and credential verification on the blockchain, the plan is to secure cross-border trust and portability.

Giggle Academy currently does not hold its own listed token. The BNB and BNB Life tokens transferred this time are significant in a different way in that they are not funds raised via token sales, but rather are intended to serve as operating funds. The Gnosis Safe multisig wallet structure where the assets are held also aligns closely with the standard crypto treasury model in which multiple signers jointly manage funds.

After reaching an agreement with U.S. authorities, CZ has repeatedly pointed to Giggle Academy as the top priority he will focus on. In public remarks, he emphasized that “education is the area with the highest leverage where capital can be deployed, considering long-term social impact.”

The message conveyed by the transfer size

A $965,000 scale is meaningful for an early-stage nonprofit educational platform. However, compared with large transactions categorized as whale-level on-chain movements, it’s relatively small.

During the same session, the on-chain tracking service Whale Alert detected that 3,355 Bitcoins (BTC) were moved between wallets whose identities were not disclosed to each other. At the time, the estimated value was about $211.7 million.

Even so, the reason transfers related to Giggle Academy stand out is not their size, but that they represent a “fund flow with a clearly defined purpose and intent.” In that it involves reallocating personal assets toward a specified destination, it provides a clue about how CZ is distributing his resources after leaving Binance.

It’s also noteworthy that a Gnosis Safe was used. Rather than a structure where a single signer exclusively controls the wallet, introducing a governance system in which multiple signers participate suggests a desire to equip Giggle Academy’s financial operations with a certain level of internal controls and a collective decision-making structure.

The BNB Life tokens included in this transfer also carry symbolic weight. The asset shows that CZ has personally been involved not only in Binance Coin (BNB), which is the core asset, but across the broader BNB Chain ecosystem. Sending it—along with BNB—to the Giggle Academy wallet suggests that the operating structure is designed not merely to hold highly liquid BNB, but to become more broadly exposed to the BNB Chain ecosystem.

CZ’s “education pivot,” accelerated by on-chain fund execution

CZ agreed to formally conclude a legal dispute with U.S. authorities between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024, pay substantial fines, and step down from the front lines of Binance’s management. Over the following months, his public activities showed a shift in focus away from exchange operations and toward education and early-stage startup investments.

The first official materials from Giggle Academy were released in 2024. At the time, CZ defined the project as a “free educational content infrastructure that can be accessed by anyone with only a smartphone, and that will be operated on a multi-decade scale.”

As for why they introduced performance proof on-chain, the project pointed out that academic transcripts from economically vulnerable educational institutions are often undervalued in the global employment market. Their aim is to address this by recording a “verifiable credential” that can be recognized across borders on the blockchain.

Meanwhile, prior to this transfer, Giggle Academy had not issued major external announcements such as launching a formal curriculum or signing partnerships with public education systems. As such, this on-chain transfer of funds is being viewed as the most concrete and verifiable progress among the project’s recent timeline.
