Tether, a stablecoin issuer, has announced its entry into the top 30 global gold holders, according to data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and a report by Jefferies. According to Odaily, Tether's physical gold reserves reached 520,089.350 ounces by the end of the fourth quarter of 2025. The total number of XAUT tokens in circulation stands at 520,089.3, representing approximately 60% of the total supply of gold-backed stablecoins. This achievement places Tether ahead of countries like Greece, Qatar, and Australia in terms of gold holdings.
